Heart rock legend Ann Wilson postpones tour after cancer announcement

Ann Wilsonthe lead singer of the iconic rock band Heartrecently revealed that she has been diagnosed with cancer. As a result, the band has made the difficult decision to postpone the remaining shows on its Royal Flush Tour to allow Ann to undergo treatment.

In a heartfelt statement released on Tuesday, Ann Wilson shared that she had undergone surgery to remove a cancerous growth and is steadily recovering. However, her doctors have advised her to undergo preventive chemotherapy and take time off from performing in order to fully recover. This unfortunate news means that the rest of the shows on the North American tour will be postponed to dates in 2025.

Expressing her sincere regret to the ticket buyers, Ann Wilson stated, “To the ticket buyers, I really do wish we could do these gigs. Please know that I absolutely plan to be back on stage in 2025. My team is getting those details sorted & we’ll let you know the plan as soon as we can.” This reassurance reflects her determination and positive outlook despite the challenging circumstances.

All previously purchased tickets for the postponed shows will be honored, and the band plans to announce the rescheduled dates in the coming weeks. Emphasizing that this postponement is just a temporary pause, Ann Wilson conveyed her optimism by saying, “This is merely a pause. I’ve much more to sing.”

The impact of this decision extends beyond just the band and its fans. Over 50 shows at stadium and arena venues in numerous cities across the U.S. and Canada are affected by the postponement. Additionally, there is uncertainty about whether performances from other bands, such as Def Leppard and Journey, will accompany Heart at the rescheduled shows.

This isn’t the first time Heart has faced tour disruptions due to Ann’s health. Earlier in the year, the band canceled the European leg of their tour due to a time-sensitive procedure that required a minimum recovery time of six weeks. Despite these setbacks, Ann Wilson has remained resilient and optimistic, assuring fans that she is okay and appreciating their understanding and support.

In closing her statement, Ann Wilson expressed her desire for privacy moving forward, stating, “Respectfully, this is the last public statement I’d like to make on the matter.” This request for privacy underscores the personal nature of her health journey and the need for space during this challenging time.
